It was a time of great adventure...and danger. Shunned by his kin, an Illager wanders the land, seeking a new home. But all he found was HATRED. Driven by rage against those who wronged him, he wandered blind to whatever end. Until at long last, the Illager found something that would change him FOREVER; The ORB OF DOMINANCE. Corrupted by evil, driven by vengeance, the Arch-Illager made all bow before him; and if they did not bow... they would FALL. The Illagers raided the land. Who would have the valor, the purity of heart, to stand against the Arch-Illager's reign of terror? Well, not that one. But maybe... you?
Minecraft: Dungeons is an upcoming action adventure RPG video game in the Minecraft series developed by a Mojang team in Stockholm, Sweden, and will be published on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch by Microsoft. Currently, the game is suggested to be released on May 26, 2020.[1]
Plot[]
The Arch-Illager, previously an outcast among the villagers, obtains the Orb of Dominance, and becomes corrupted by its evil power. Now, with a full army of illagers, he is taking over the overworld, one village at a time. Only you and your allies can stop him!
Gameplay[]
Inspired by classic dungeon crawler games such as Diablo,[2], players will constantly discover new weapons and items that are used to fend off against monsters. Players will traverse canyons, swamps, and mines on a quest to defeat the Arch-Illager.
Players can play alone or with a group of up to four players. They can play on local multiplayer or play with friends online.
Unlike the building Minecraft game, players are not able to build structures[3], and mining and crafting are not the main focus of the game and is implied to have a lower significance with general gameplay.
It has been hinted that there will be challenging puzzles that unlock secret dungeons and possibly the entrance to the nether or end hidden in one of the levels.
History[]
The game was first announced on September 29, 2018, at the time slated for a 2019 release. Then, on E3, the gameplay was revealed, and it was announced the game had been delayed to Q2 2020.
W.I.P
A beta first started on March 25, 2020, and is ongoing. During March of 2020, it was announced that the game would be released on May 26, 2020 instead of April of 2020.
